So many of us yearn to know God more deeply and feel His presence, yet so many things compete for our attention and get in the way of truly knowing, feeling, and hearing God's voice. Our lifestyle choices can make it impossible to know God fully, so it is imparitve that we examine that. Many people are spiritually empty, starving for a real relationship with the living God. Spiritual health means that we have an active relationship with God and are alive and vibrant in our pursuit to know Him more. We actually need to read the bible, study God's word, apply his commands, pray, seek wise counsel, attend church, surround ourselves with other people who are doing the same, and serve others. A regular devotional time is crucial spiritually just like healthy eating and exercise are vital for physical health. A growing relationship with Jesus is impossible if no time is spent with Him on a regular basis. We need to trust Jesus and focus on Him and not on our own problems and issues.
Prayer is essential: when we pray for our own needs as well as for others, amazing things happen. Come to God just as you are and talk to Him like you would to a best friend. Know that God hears you, and will equip you for the things He calls you to. Every Christ follower has been given spiritual gifts. We are to use them in service to others. It is easy to spend our time on what we want to do rather than what He wants us to do.
Make knowing and loving God first in your life and all things will fall into place. The message of the Gospel is incredible. Jesus loves us so much He died on the cross for our sins so we can be reconciled with God. His grace forgives us and welcomes us into a relationship with Him. This should never cease to lead us to gratitude and if we no longer are moved by it, there is a problem.
Faith, spiritual growth, prayer and helping others all have a significant role in developing wholeness as well as peace of mind. Learning to quiet the noise in our head and be fully present with God can yield considerable gains when we take the time to do it. It also boosts our mood and contributes to making better choices. Activities such as journaling, creating gratitude boards, spending time outdoors in nature while noticing all that God has created, or soaking in a bubble bath and listening to worship music are all wonderful ways to connect with God as well.
